Our Visits

Pet Care Policies

  • We are happy to provide services such as feeding and medication (pills or drops given in the food or in a pill pocket as a treat) at no extra charge within the duration of your scheduled service. Just leave us a note through your account! There is a small extra fee for subcutaneous injections, drops that must be administered directly to the mouth and ears, or creams.
  • Our policy for bad weather is simple. We are ready to be there for you rain, snow, or shine! As long as your dog wants to be out, we will be out with them. If your dog is fussy about the rain or snow and seems like they are having a bad time, we will make sure they do their business and spend the rest of the visit playing with them inside.
  • We guarantee a 30 or 60 minute visit (depending on your choosing) from the time the walker lets themselves in your apartment to the time they leave. If you have a dog that is a senior, has a medical condition, or simply doesn't enjoy walking, we are happy to split the time between walking and playing/cuddling inside.
  • Please make sure your dog's walking equipment is secure and properly fitted. This is a very serious safety issue! Your dog must be wearing their tags as required by NYC law.

Scheduling Policies


  • It's the 21st century over here at Bark & Bone. Scheduling is extremely convenient with our online scheduling system--you select a date and time on the calendar and we will confirm your request. We can accommodate same day requests, weekend requests, holiday requests, and more. We recommend scheduling with as much advanced notice as possible, but can usually accommodate last minute requests.
  • It's not just our online scheduling system that's so convenient. You will receive a detailed report card every time your pet gets a visit! You will also receive photos of your pet and have a direct line of communication with staff and management through our online portal.
  • There is no extra fee for scheduling services the same day! However, you will find that the more time you give us for booking in advance, the less likely it is that we will be booked for that day.
  • There is NO FEE for same day cancellations as long as you cancel before our team starts walking at 10AM.

Meet and Greets

Consultation Policies

  • Before you can begin services, the business owner or area manager will meet with you and your pet for a short meet and greet in your home. This process only takes about 20 minutes. During the meet and greet, we will meet your pet, set up your account on our online system, make sure your home and buddy's walking gear are safe and pet-friendly, pick up a copy of your keys, and address any questions you may have.
  • We cannot provide services for you without the initial meet and greet, even if you live in a doorman building that can let the staff inside. Having a manager learn about your pet's temperament, walking gear, and specific needs before scheduling the service is what sets us apart from large dog walking apps and keeps the pets in our care safe.
  • You must have a copy of your keys ready on the day of meet and greet to avoid a pickup charge.
  • You must provide keys for us unless your building has a doorman to let our staff in the apartment. Keys are stored safely and securely in our office. Unfortunately, we do not allow our clients to hide a key for us in a place like a mailbox, under a doormat, or even in a lockbox. These are security issues and lockboxes can be easily picked.
  • The first meet and greet is always free. Returning your keys, picking up keys after initial meet and greet, picking up new keys because you have moved, or picking up new keys because your landlord changed locks will incur a $10 pickup fee.
